Get involved in a new public art project that will be installed on a heavily trafficked fence pathway between Bogota and Hackensack, New Jersey near the Midtown Bridge. Sign up for the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation's ArtsBergen Connect the Dots' two-part workshop series, The Path of Us: A Public Art Fence Weaving, and an all day event to install the completed artwork.
Under the guidance of professional artist Katherine Daniels, participants will work together to conceive a concept for the project and create their own weavings to construct a site-specific design to enhance a chain link fence located at the ball fields along West Main Street in Bogota.
The first workshop starts on Monday, February 25 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Olsen Park Recreation Center, located at 162 Main Street in Bogota, New Jersey.
The second workshop takes place on Thursday, April 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bergen Makerspace in the Bergen County Technical Schools Adult & Continuing Education Building, located at 190 Hackensack Avenue in Hackensack, New Jersey. The Bergen Makerspace staff and expert "makers" will provide one-on-one instruction on 3D printing, offering participants the opportunity to design and produce individual embellishments for the fence weaving. Local artists and creatives of all ages are welcome to contribute their unique talents to the project and to learn a new technology that can be used in their own work.
On Saturday, May 4, workshop participants and the community are invited to install the finished large-scale weaving on the fence. All events are free and open to the public.
