Culinary Workshop: Kürtőskalács (Hungarian Chimney Cakes)

May 17, 2019
07:00 PM until 09:00 PM

Have you ever been to Budapest? Ever tasted their street food that EVERYONE raves about?

Join us with Nicole Shaw-Provillon, the owner of Kurly Kürtősh, an upscale mobile bakery and discover Kürtőskalács  (known as chimney cake in English), a popular street food in Hungary that has a crispy & flavorful outside and a soft & fluffy inside. Our chimney cakes utilize some old world techniques, starting with an artisan-style dough made in small batches from pure internationally sourced ingredients. It's engaging and entertaining to watch it being prepared, baked and personalized right in front of you. And the best part, is that it's so much fun "unkurling" a freshly baked chimney bake. And now, you can experience this magical process in Glen Rock, no passports required!

  1. Prepare your own artisanal chimney cakes with Nicole's direction and assistance
  2. Learn about the chimney cake culture in Hungary and get inspired by learning about Nicole's journey from CPA to passionate baker of a Central European treasure. And get motivated to go after your sweet spot!
  3. Enjoy 4 personalized chimney cakes for you and your loved ones
  4. Leave "certified" to spread the chimney cake love and excited to share your newly acquired knowledge.

About Nicole Shaw-Provillon: She is a passionate chimney cake baker that fell in love with this beloved street food while living in Budapest, so much so that she decided that Americans must discover & enjoy this street food too. She learned on the streets of Budapest and then trained under an award winning chimney cake baker in Hungary. Now in the US, she honorably bakes for the Hungarian Embassy in Washington DC and you can find her popping up at Bloomingdale's, Williams-Sonoma & more. And this summer, she will make her debut in The Hamptons.
